Before the Mongolians were a dominate nomadic tribe, there were the Scythians. This tribe wandered throughout the lands conquering people and controlling massive trade routes. They were known as being the first to master the art of mounted combat especially mounted archery. Since the Scythians were known for their trade routes in the Asian and Eastern Iranian areas; it is very viable to think that the Mongols mimicked the design in their Mongolian bow.
